Dramatic Explorers
Dramatic Explorers (students entering Kindergarten through 2nd Grade)
Cost: $75 for one 4-day week.
Dates: July 5-8 (four days ONLY).
Times: Separate morning and afternoon classes will be offered at the following times.
Morning: 9:00-11:30am
Afternoon: 12:00-2:30pm
Class Size: 8-12
Offerings: Depending on enrollment, up to four separate classes will be offered (maximum two in the morning, two in the afternoon). Students may sign up for both a morning and afternoon class, or just a single class. Discounts will NOT be offered for students registering for multiple classes, however supervision will be provided during the unstructured lunch break between classes at no additional charge.
Recital: Students will participate in a public recital on the DHT stage on the evening of Friday, July 8, at 6:30pm. Admission is free.
Curriculum: The Dramatic Explorers program will focus on teaching fundamental dramatic play skills. Each class will be expected to produce a short musical story based on an international folktale, such as Abiyoyo, Jabuti the Tortoise, Coyote the Trickster, etc. Important curricular topics include:
- Vocal projection/articulation.
- Physical presentation skills.
- Body control.
- Stage picture.
- Character skills.
- Vocal expression.
- Movement and tableaux.
Rough Itinerary:
0:00-0:10 = Group warm-up.
0:10-0:30 = Mini-lesson.
0:30-1:10 = Rehearse production.
1:10-1:25 = Snack break.
1:25-2:00 = Review morning lesson, continue rehearsing.
2:00-2:30 = Theatre games.
