Young Actors’ School Emergent Actors and Needs-Based Scholarships Now Available!
LIMITED NUMBER of Scholorships are available!
The board of directors for Draper Historic Theatre has approved the award of a limited number of Scholarships to be awarded to students of their upcoming Young Actor's School. Two types of scholarships will be awarded, one based upon the financial needs of the student and merit based for Emergent Actors. This will give the opportunity for families in this struggling economy to provide a wholesome and edifying experience for their children this summer. Scholarships are open to any student living or currently residing in the State of Utah.
The Young Actors School at Draper historic Theatre is founded and operated by by a licensed professional educator and is Taught by qualified teachers and theatrical artists. The Young Actors' School uses the theatrical arts to teach vital communication, presentation, performance, and creative skills to young people. The emergence of digital media as a primary communication form in the 21st century promises that today's youth will be required to interact with performances of all types as actors, directors, and audience members more than ever before. The Young Actors' School stands to be a guiding force in the lives of young people as they develop the skills they will need to prosper in our evolving society. The school teaches fundamentals along with other exciting electives such as comedy improvisation, musical theatre, Shakespeare, and action movie-making!
Emergent Actors Scholarships
The DHT Board of Directors has approved and is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to talented kids ages 11 to 14 for the Young Actors’ School program Dramatic Prodigies beginning the week of June 13th. This scholarship subsidizes half of the total tuition, reducing the cost of this acclaimed program down to only $187.50. To qualify, kids must have prior performing experience in any form, acting, dancing, singing, etc. To apply email to mrideout@drapertheatre.org and include a short paragraph detailing the child’s or children’s (this scholarship is available to multiple children in the same household) past performing experience and why they would be a good candidate(s) for this scholarship. All applications must be received by Sunday, June 12th at 5:00pm. Scholarships will be awarded after the review process and families will be contacted by June 13th.
Needs base scholarships
For young aspiring actors who qualify, DHT Board of Directors is offering Needs-Based Scholarships. These scholarships are determined on a case-by-case and can cover up to the total tuition for the program. These scholarships are based on the financial need of the family, and are being offered for the June 13th Dramatic Prodigies program. These scholarships allow children who desire to either get into acting, or perfect their dramatic skills the opportunity to attend this acclaimed program for a fraction of the cost! The application process and the award of the scholarship are strictly confidential. For more information, or to apply for the scholarship, simply email mrideout@drapertheatre.org and include a short paragraph introducing the child and briefly explaining the situation surrounding the need. Someone from the theater will contact you Monday June 13th. All applications must be turned in by Sunday, June 12th at 5PM.
